About Compact Fluorescent Ballast

Similar to traditional fluorescent ballast, a compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) ballast is required to light CFLs by converting the input voltage to the proper voltage needed to ignite the gas within the bulb. Just like with larger fluorescent ballasts, there are two types of CFL ballasts, magnetic and electronic. However, CFLs have less variation than fluorescent lamps, so their ballasts typically require less than their non-compact counterparts. Due to this, CFL ballasts are only available in Magnetic (2-pin) and Electronic (4-pin) variations with equally smaller ranges of both voltage and wattage. Despite their smaller stature, CFL ballasts nonetheless benefit from the same increased lifespan and efficiency as modern electronic ballasts. Check out our great selection of dimming ballast too! Our catalog includes only the best and most well-known manufacturers of CFL ballasts, from Sola, to Sunpark, Keystone, Philips Advance, and more!
